World Kidney Day Parliamentary Reception Invitation – Opt Out Organ Donation Law Change
You may know that the law around organ donation is changing in England and Scotland in 2020 and that these countries are following Wales by moving to a system of presumed consent for organ donation. We want the law to be a success and improve lives, and strongly believe that both education and adequate NHS resources must accompany the legislation.on.
Kidney Care UK and NHS Blood and Transplant have arranged a reception in Parliament just before World Kidney Day to discuss organ donation with MPs. We would love you to come with your MP, whether you or a family member are on the waiting list or have received a kidney. We have a new Parliament and it is important that new and existing MPs understand what the change in law means to you and your family, and do what they can to support it.
The event is Wednesday 11 March 2020 from 16.00 – 18.00 at the Houses of Parliament in London.
We will send your MP a formal invitation to the event, but it would be really helpful if you could also send them an invitation from you, even if you cannot attend.
Invite your MP
Please ask your MP if they will attend a drop-in reception starting at 4pm on Wednesday 11 March 2020 in Dining Room A, which is being sponsored by Dan Jarvis MP on behalf of Kidney Care UK and NHS Blood and Transplant. It would also be great if you could tell your MP a bit about yourself and why you believe organ donation is so important in your own words. We can give you a suggested letter to use but your own words are best.
If your MP is able to attend we will pay your travel expenses to Parliament so you can meet them to talk about kidney disease and what it means to you for this law to be a success. Please email us at policy@kidneycareuk.org if you invite your MP.
How to contact your MP
